Ahoy Honorary Crew, Sue and I are about ready to leave Pobra de Cariminal, a nice town at the foot of a gentle mountain in Ria Arousa. We came in here with the OCC Ocean Cruising Club rally on Friday.

The Christian legend here credits the scallop as having brought St John the Apostle back to Spain. His reputed bones were alleged to have been found by a humble shepherd several hundred years after his death. The sheppard asked the bishop about it and it was confirmed by the bishop that YES, these were his bones. Some have since suggested the bones may have been the bones of one of the first Christians executed by beheading in one of the Catholic Church’s first purges. They did excommunicate Priscillian and he was later put to death for MAGIC.

We have now withdrawn from the Rally that sailed off for three more days in the Ria one bay north of here. We are glad we remained here as we have enjoyed ourselves and David and Julia from Daq Attack, OCC friends who helped us get our membership in HORTA when we crossed the Atlantic 3 years ago. We got to play a board game of JOKER, the men lost to the women!

Today was market day. We bought tomatoes, carrots, peaches and a watermelon from the local street market… wonderful. We then went to the large EROSKI supermarket and bought fresh bread, butter, meat and some cheap wine from this area. Wonderful trip, and we balanced it all on our bikes on the way home.

Weather is nice today, a 12 knot wind from the North, and we plan to go to the Atlantic Island National Park tonight for a couple nights. Sue saw several folks digging for shellfish, so we investigated and went out among them. Fun.. We will do it sometime.

WE LOVE HAVING ATMs throughout Europe. We switched to a free Charles Schwab Bank bank account in the USA this last February in Des Moines along with a small amount of savings in their free brokerage account. They charge refund all ATM fees. We love Charles Schwab
